چکیده

This paper considers the class of discrete distributions for which the distribution function is a log-concave sequence. It is shown that such distributions arise from a wide variety of circumstances in Reliability, and that these have a decreasing reversed hazard rate. After examining the closures of the class under certain key operations, sharp upper and lower bounds on the reliability function for the member distributions are given. Some useful inequalities for maintained systems are provided. Some results for the related class of discrete concave distributions are also given. AMS (2000) subject classification. Primary 60N05; secondary 90B25.

On the Monotone Behavior of Time Dependent Entropy of Order alpha

In this paper we study some monotone behavior of the residual (past) entropy of order . We prove that, under some relation between the hazard rates (reversed hazard rates) of two distributions functions F and G, when the residual (past) entropy of order of F is decreasing (increasing) then the residual (past) entropy of G is decreasing (increasing). Using this, several conclusions regarding mo...

Testing behavior of the reversed hazard rate

Abstract The concept of reversed hazard rate of a random life is defined as the ratio between the life probability density to its distribution function. This concept plays a role in analyzing censored data and is applicable in such areas as Forensic Sciences. In this investigation, we address the question of testing the reversed hazard rate where the null is that the reversed hazard rate is an ...

Nature of Reversed Hazard Rate: An Investigation

Reversed hazard rate (RHR) is a useful tool in the area of maintenance management, particularly for condition monitoring. Its typical behaviour makes it suitable for the assessment of waiting time and hidden failures. Nature of reversed hazard rate is therefore, analytically and numerically investigated, for the standard distributions and presented in this paper. It is shown that RHR is a decre...

BATHTUB HAZARD RATE DISTRIBUTIONS AND FUZZY LIFE TIMES

The development of life time analysis started back in the $20^{textit{th}}$ century and since then comprehensive developments have been made to model life time data efficiently. Recent development in measurements shows that all continuous measurements can not be measured as precise numbers but they are more or less fuzzy. Life time is also a continuous phenomenon, and has already been shown tha...
